Institute Endowment
In 1995, the Board of the Institute of Semitic Studies voted to advance the idea of naming the Institute in honor of a major donor.
The focus of the Institute has been the historical and cultural studies of all ancient Semitic and Afroasiatic peoples and their respective common ties and contributions to world civilization. Moreover, such studies are relevant to promoting peace among the peoples of the Middle East (Jews Arabs, Christians, Muslims), on the one hand, and the Horn of Africa (Ethiopians, Eritreans, Somalis), on the other. Peace and stability in these regions will enhance relations between Euro-Americans and Afroasiatic cultural groups.
The Institute invites anyone interested to be a networking partner in realizing this goal and developing the fledgling Institute. Ideally, we are looking for a gift of about $5-10 million, which would secure a permanent established place for the Institute. The donor can play a major role in strengthening in the West the full appreciation of Semitic and Afroasiatic cultures and helping to promote peace that grows out of knowledge and understanding.
